Derby Cologne

Let me start by saying that this is my best friend's favorite fragrance right now - so much so that she requests it for every holiday from her husband. Because we always agreed on what fragrances were the best, I was very surprised when she told me that she loved the Derby cologne! I first became acquainted with this fragrance when I received it as a Christmas present two years ago. I received the Derby cologne in a gift set. I loved the scent at first and was thrilled with it.

The scent of the Derby cologne is definitely very feminine. Its fragrant nature explores essences of tangerine, chamomile and freesia. Blended with notes of ginger, violet and oakmoss, the Derby cologne is a romantic fragrance. I would definitely agree with the above, but the tangerine is one note that I can't really detect. I would describe this fragrance as just very floral with nothing in particular standing out, with the exception of possibly the violet. My Derby cologne spray came in a heavy, clear glass bottle that is 4" high and just over 3" wide including the cap. The cap is silver metallic plastic and just pulls off, exposing the spray pump. The spray is a natural spray and is not aerosol at all. The bottle is somewhat awkward and can be hard to hold while you are spraying it. If it were narrower, this problem would be solved. I have had trouble finding the Sensuous Body Moisturizer that I received in the gift set under that particular name, but I suspect that it is just the Body Lotion with another name.

When you take the cap off the bottle of the Derby cologne and smell the fragrance, it smells wonderful. However, this wonderful fragrance doesn't last! I have a VERY keen sense of smell and can smell a hamburger cooking on someone's back porch in the next county - but I can't smell the Derby cologne on myself an hour after I spray myself generously with it! I never get compliments on my fragrance when I wear the Derby cologne. After about a year of wondering why, I figured it out - because the scent fades so quickly! I can't even say that using this fragrance spray with the Body Moisturizer helps to prolong the scent. I definitely like to layer my fragrances (using first shower gel, then scented moisturizer, then spraying on the scent itself) in order to deepen a scent and get more staying power, but doing this with the Derby cologne has really not helped.
